There’s a reason hair oils have existed for centuries across Ayurvedic rituals and traditional haircare practices.

Long before modern styling products existed, oils were used to help soften the hair, protect it from environmental stress, restore manageability and support long-term hair health.

But while traditional oils can be incredibly nourishing, many modern hair oils rely heavily on silicones to create immediate smoothness and shine — often leaving fine hair coated, heavy or dependent on surface-level results.

When I created The Elixir, I wanted to approach hair oil differently.

Not as a styling product alone, but as skincare for the hair fibre.

A lightweight, silicone-free treatment oil designed to restore softness, flexibility and shine to dehydrated hair — without heaviness, residue or buildup.

 

What Is The Elixir?

The Elixir is a highly concentrated treatment oil designed to support dehydrated, stressed or over-processed hair.

The formula helps:

• smooth frizz and flyaways
• improve softness and manageability
• support elasticity and flexibility
• restore natural shine
• replenish the feeling of lost lipids after heat styling, colouring and environmental stress

Unlike traditional silicone serums that mainly coat the outside of the hair, The Elixir was formulated to feel lightweight and absorb beautifully into the hair fibre — particularly when applied to damp hair.

The result is hair that feels softer, healthier and more resilient over time.

 

Why I Created It

 

Over the years, I noticed many clients struggling with the same issue:

Their hair didn’t necessarily need “more product” — it needed balance restored back into the hair fibre itself.

Bleaching, colouring, heat styling, swimming, environmental stress and even frequent washing can gradually strip away the hair’s natural lipid layer.

When this happens, hair often becomes:

• rough
• frizzy
• dull
• brittle
• tangled
• overly porous
• difficult to style

The Elixir was designed to help restore softness and flexibility back into dehydrated hair without creating the heaviness that so many oils leave behind.

Especially for finer hair types.

Why Hair Oils Matter

Healthy hair naturally contains lipids that help keep the cuticle smooth, flexible and protected.

But over time, chemical processing, UV exposure, salt water, chlorine and heat styling can disrupt this balance.

This is often why dehydrated hair starts to feel:

• coarse
• frizzy
• dry at the ends
• more prone to breakage

 

Treatment oils can help support the feeling of softness and suppleness by replenishing moisture and helping smooth the outer layer of the hair.

Historically, oiling rituals have been used for centuries throughout Ayurveda and other traditional beauty practices as a way to support long-term hair condition, softness and manageability.

The Elixir was inspired by this philosophy — reimagined through a modern, lightweight formulation.

The Ingredients

 

The Elixir combines lightweight plant-derived oils and emollients chosen to nourish the hair without leaving it feeling greasy or coated.

Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Extract

Known for being rich in essential fatty acids and antioxidants, rosehip is traditionally used to support softness, smoothness and elasticity.

Importantly, the formula was designed not to stain blonde, silver, white or grey hair.

Olive Leaf Extract

Known for its antioxidant properties and ability to help support softness and manageability.

Avocado Oil

Helps nourish dehydrated hair and improve softness and flexibility.

Argan Oil

Traditionally used to help smooth texture, soften the hair and enhance shine.

Why It’s Different

Many hair oils rely heavily on silicones to create an instant cosmetic finish.

The Elixir takes a different approach.

The silicone-free formula was designed to:

• absorb lightly into the hair fibre
• support softness without buildup
• improve manageability over time
• work beautifully on fine hair without collapse or heaviness

Rather than simply coating the outside of the hair, the goal was to create a treatment-focused oil that supports the condition and feel of the hair itself.

More like skincare for the hair fibre.

How To Use It

The Elixir is designed primarily for mid-lengths and ends.

For Fine Hair

Start with 1 drop on damp hair.

Focus through the mid-lengths and ends, concentrating on the driest areas first.

For Medium–Thick Hair

Use 1–3 drops on damp hair depending on density and dryness levels.

Damp vs Dry Hair Application

For best long-term treatment benefits, I recommend applying the first layer of The Elixir to damp hair.

Damp hair allows the formula to distribute more evenly and absorb more effectively into the hair fibre.

Applying to dry hair creates more of a finishing effect — helping smooth flyaways and add shine — but you’ll generally need much less.

Because the formula is highly concentrated, start with less than you think you need. You can always layer another drop if necessary.

How To Layer With Leave-In Treatment

 

The Elixir does not replace the Leave-In Treatment.

The Leave-In Treatment focuses more on:

• hydration
• strength
• repair support
• elasticity
• detangling

Whereas The Elixir focuses more on:

• nourishment
• softness
• smoothing
• restoring flexibility and shine
• supporting the feeling of the lipid layer

If you already use the Leave-In Treatment, I recommend either:

• applying The Elixir first on damp hair, then layering Leave-In Treatment over the top

    OR

• mixing both together in your palms before applying

 

Because The Elixir has a lighter fluid consistency, applying it first allows for better absorption into the hair fibre before sealing everything in with the Leave-In Treatment.

Silicone-Free Haircare

One of the most important parts of The Elixir for me was creating a silicone-free formula that still delivered softness and shine.

Many people assume silicone-free products can’t feel luxurious or smoothing.

But modern plant-derived emollients and lightweight oils can create beautiful slip, softness and manageability without the heavy coating effect that some silicones create over time.

The goal wasn’t temporary cosmetic shine.

It was healthier-feeling hair long term.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Does The Elixir replace the Leave-In Treatment?

No — they serve different purposes and work beautifully together.

Does The Elixir protect against heat?

The nourishing oils and emollients help support the hair during styling, however The Elixir has not undergone the formal heat protection testing required to be categorised specifically as a Heat-protectant product.

If you use heated-tools like straightening irons or curling wands more than 2-3 times per week, I'd recommend using a specific heat protectant product for piece of mind. 

 

Will it make fine hair greasy?

Not if used correctly. The formula is highly concentrated, so fine hair generally only requires 1 drop applied to damp hair.

Can I use it on blonde or grey hair?

Yes. The formula was designed not to stain blonde, silver, white or grey hair.

 

Can I use it on dry hair?

Yes — but use less. Dry hair application works best as a finishing step for shine, softness and frizz control.

Final Thoughts

The Elixir was designed for the people who feel like their hair has slowly lost its softness.
